CQ?!?!

This is too precious...

He can no longer separate Reality from Fiction. Shrug.

Kirk, McCoy, and Scott all copied Morse code when Sybock threw them in the

Actually, Scotty was sending the Morse "stand back" while Kirk, Spock,
and McCoy "decoded" it from inside the brig. Then the wall blew in and
Scotty was standing there saying in his trademark brogue, "Well? What
are you all just standing around for? Do you not know a jailbreak when
you see one?"

Apparently Kirk did know the Morse code, since he was able to copy the
"SOS" being sent by antique space ship from Earth full of the genetically
enhanced people in suspended animation in "Space Seed."

OK. There you have it. End of debate. Larry has just stated that someone
who knows the sending of SOS knows "the Morse code."

Except that the sleeper ship was sending "CQ", not "SOS".

Larry on a mountainside rescuing a hiker and his wife. The hiker has
fallen and broken his leg, compound fracture. His wife is screaming.
As night falls, Larry pulls out his 2m HT and, because this is a
life-threatening emergency, calls "CQ CQ CQ de K3LT."

Ops normal.

Only someone with a dumbed-down agenda would think that, Kim.

have been a form of inside joke, because one of the pet peeves of many was
the
too-long CQ with no breaks to listen.

Jim:

Ah, so it was CQ and not SOS. It's been a long time since I've seen that
episode, or any of the Star Trek original series. I sit corrected -- mainly on
the porcelin appliance, since I'm "preparing" for a colonoscopy tomorrow
morning!

Brian:

I thought it was me with a QRP HF CW rig and YOU with the HT -- 200
miles from the nearest repeater! I'm sure that the frantic XYL's screaming
would get a response before you did with your HT!

I think they'll find what the rest of us already knew. ;^)

But seriously, hope it goes well and you check OK.

That last bit of information is a bit more than really needed to be
shared with the rest of us, Larry, but I'll resist the temptation to
take the obvious shot...too easy.

I will say this...hope everything comes out alright. :-)

Thanks, John!
