You are assuming that the volunteer examiners are capable of
evaluating something other than multiple choice.
And how! That is the glaring problem with essay type questions. The
grader must understand the answer, and they must be able to understand
the answers that the student makes. Any less, and you have a big argument.
Don't all those VEs know all there is to know about radio?
Gosh, to hear the Extras talk in here they DO!
Since They Know All There Is To Know, there should be NO questions!
No questions, no discussion, they are supremely qualified by law.
Just demonstrate morsemanship skills and everyone is qualified to
operate on HF!

Why, Len, just the other day I heard The Amateur Formerly Known As
(TAFKA) Rev. Jim say that the Morse Code test was a disincentive to
use CW on HF.
Maybe the earth has reversed polarity!
Or maybe he just got his tie stuck in his zipper.
