Steve, you're free to worship in your own way.

Good one!

I've been lucky enough to know some great ones ;-)

There's also the case of the person whose interest in something consists of
wanting to destroy it. Such a person will often deny that goal.

Perhaps Len's interest in amateur radio is like my interest in
professional football. I have no desire to play, but I like to watch.

There's more to that statement than you know, Dave.

IMHO, most people who watch professional football support it and enjoy it in
one way or another. For example, they buy tickets, paraphenalia, cheer on
"their team", etc. Even the person who simply sits at home and watches the game
on broadcast TV has some small effect, because they affect the ratings and the
ratings determine revenue. Etc. All without wanting to become players.

Of course, a lot of fans would love to actually play the game, but they just
don;t have the talent to do so.

But of course there are *some* people whose interest in football is negative.
Haven't you ever known someone who watched the games but complained the whole
way through, booing and yelling at the TV set, shouting out epithets and
wanting to fire the coaches every couple of plays? Sometimes the worst
offenders in this area are folks who once actually played the game, who will
tell you of their great accomplishments on the gridiron - over and over and
over, even if you don't ask them. Now they simply spectators who live in the
past.

Everyone seems to be of the fixed mindset (imaginary

department)
that I am desiring to obtain an amateur radio license. Not

true.

Your story changes from month-to-month and year-to-year.

Sometimes you
have no interest in obtaining an amateur radio license. At other

times
you've indicated a decades-long interest in amateur radio. It

can't be
both ways.

Sure it can, Dave. A person can "have an interest" in something,

yet not want
to become part of that group. For example, I have a decades-long

But do you hate football at the same time?

Some people hate entire teams, most are merely aggravated by individual
players.

Wrong. Drop the "Dave and" and see what's left grammatically.
