Well sir in Southern California, in the last year or so, we have trained
about 30 school kids who obtained their license.
Donations have been made to set up complete Ham stations at the schools.
In our repeater club there are well over 75 members age 25 and below.
At our field day, we had two troops of boy scouts who got on the radio.
Several went on to get a license.
Ditto for the JOTA day (if you know what that is)
The kids loved PSK31 - no internet they asked.

I can assure you that Amateur Radio was quite relevant -- to the tune
of over 500 Amateurs participating. Won accolades from local officials and
the media.

When the cell phones are out, telephone lines are toast, power is
lost, you will wish you had a battery operated mountain top repeater.
Ours was on battery power or portable generator power for 3 days after the
commercial power was lost.

Do you support such a repeater, are you even a Ham?

Support Amateur Radio or rely on your silly phone - the choice is
yours.

Probably when he found out he couldn't muster what it took to pass an exam!
I've seen quite a few of them. The "hand it to me" types. Afraid to put
forth a little effort in life. I knew a lady once who bombed a test like 3
times, blamed everyone but herself. It wasn't our fault she didn't study or
was too slow to be able to comprehend the material.
