It's not likely to get fixed by itself. It could be an error at either the FCC or the VEC. Call both. Thanks... I called the FCC and the paperwork was filed electronically. The personal I spoke with at the FCC did mention a "modification" that she though had to be filed after the original Tech application was submitted. I'm not sure if this is the case, but I'm in process of contacting the VEC. I think that what may have happened is that since you're a totally new licensee, they may have issued the Tech as the first action, then input the Extra as an upgrade (which FCC calls a modification). In that case, the licenses could arrive days or even weeks apart. Welcome to ham radio! -- This raises a question about "new licenses" numbers. If in Design Guy's case, FCC first issued a Tech and then modified it to Extra, even though he passed all four elements at one go, the numbers may show his new license as Tech rather than Extra. I wonder how many others who went straight to General or Extra have been classified that way. 73 es GL de Jim, N2EY It's not that common an error. I only know one person to whom that has happened. Normally they will issue a license at the highest level earned and issue the appropriate call sign. i.e. if you test all the way from nothing to Extra at one session, they issue an Extra class license from the get go.
