Hello all, I'm new to the group and I live in the tampa bay area. I
have been listening to satcom for the past few years now and have
really got some nice intercepts from the satellites. right now I listen
to the 90 west satellite and the 105 west satellite. I first started
out using a discone and found out that it did not provide and gain what
so ever. when I was at Macdill airforce base and saw the antennas that
central command was using, I said I want one of those. I did some
research on how to build one. I went to the local hardware store to buy
everything I needed. I built myself a 7 turn helix centered at 260mhz
and I use a cable tv pre-amp on it as well. I have got some excellent
results from it and the signal comes in crystal clear. I can hear
several of the fleet relay transponders and clear comms, pirates
talking and some russian phone relays. below is a list of my logs that
I have monitored today.

265.550 NFM sounds like PSK
250.350 NFM Fleet Relay
250.550 NFM Fleet Relay
262.125 NFM Data/ Nightstalker Ops
261.575 NFM Data
262.425 NFM Secure
265.550 WFM Music
243.825 NFM Unid
267.550 NFM Unid
263.925 NFM Foreign Voice
244.150 NFM Unid
246.250 NFM Unid

Feel free to view my satcom homepage, comments and questions are always
welcome.

Thanks for the info Allen, I was a regular monitor a few years ago ( from
Australia ) and have a small collection of recordings from 261.950 MHz if I
remember, some ICE flights and traffic from a military exercise on Guam ( I
think ) from a few years ago - was using a discone and an Icom R7100 - will
check out your antenna as I'm hoping to get back into it.

Allen,

I've heard some Spanish 2-way conversations on 263.825 NFM at around
9:30 AM from my location in NE Ohio. This was using my PRO-43 and 220 Mhz
Ham Band rubber duck without a preamp!
