Default RTTY on VHF Air?

Has anyone living close to a large airport heard any packet
transmissions like RTTY (the stuff you hear on shortwave) only in the
VHF Air band (118 - 137MHz)?

I am in the flight path of Boeing and Seatac. I've heard nothing
other than voice communications

You are probably listening to ACARS transmissions.

There are numerous ways you can monitor and decode ACARS transmissions received
on your scanner.
