Has anyone living close to a large airport heard any packet
transmissions like RTTY (the stuff you hear on shortwave) only in the VHF Air band (118 - 137MHz)? TIA |

You are probably listening to ACARS transmissions. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aircraf...rting_Sy stem There are numerous ways you can monitor and decode ACARS transmissions received on your scanner. Theese are just a few links : http://web.usna.navy.mil/~bruninga/acar.html http://www.dxzone.com/catalog/Software/ACARS/ http://www.acarsonline.co.uk/ Regards Peter |
