![]() "Mike" wrote in message om... I took an Alaska Cruise with Holland America after 9/11/ I had no problems using getting a briefcase full of gear on board, using scanner, etc. Since it was an Alaska cruise most of traffic was Marine band and city stuff while in port. Hope you enjoyed the cruise. Wish I had gotten a scanner when I did the same trip along the central coast aboard BC Ferries from Port Hardy to Prince Rupert in 2001. Had a BC245XLT scanner when I went over to Vancouver Island. Gives a different prespective on things when you're doing part of living in southwestern British Columbia. Being in a ferry line up. Vancouver city police and most of the fire activty is Pro-Voice so that activity won't be available on a scanner, but there's lots of marine traffic, plus BC Ferries, and YVR (Vancouver International Airport) and CFB Comox. S A cheap way to do the same cruise is to drive aboard the Alaska Marine Highway ferry at Bellingham Washington for the trip to Alaska. No fancy casinos or any of the traditional cruise ship junk. Be sure to come back for another cruise when you can. |
