Ware are you?
Before you buy one you had better check that the police didn't go encrypted, trunked digital or you will be throwing your money away. That system is completely un-scannable I know because all of the emergency services in my area switched over a few years ago and made all scanners worthless. Even the news media with bottomless pockets has not been able to break it. I have seen so many people here that have tried and just ended up throwing their money away so check with your local radio shops to see what they did. "bmacd" wrote in message ... I just bought my first scanner from a friend for $50 (Radioshack PRO-2046). Although it can pick up a few channels, the local police departments around me are all converting to digital systems and most are already trunk-tracking. I think saving $500 would get me a very nice unit, as i hope to turn this into my new hobby. Would you guys suggest the Uniden Bearcat BC796D? I've looked and this unit seems to be the cream of the crop, for my sake of use. Would you guys recommend anything else? -=bmacd=- |
