a TV antenna makes a good directional scanner antenna. You will need to
change the polarization from horizontal to vertical. 440 MHz is UHF and
it'll cover great! The slight mismatch from 50 ohms to 75 ohms is trivial.

What would plugging my handheld old scanner to my tower mounted tv
antenna do? I mean, I assume it would work better than the rubber duck
antenna I currently have wouldnt it? Would I be able to pick up the 440
mhz band?
