Win95 can't read from my scanner

Win95 can't read from my scanner

For some odd reason, Win95 can't read off my Pro95 but can write to it. I
have my Pro95 sharing a serial port with my Uniden BC780 via a Y-connector.
Could that be the issue? Should I be using a switch box to make the
connection instead of the Y-connector? BTW: my PC is an HP Pavilion running
Windows XP.
