Default WTB:WTB: power transformer

Looking for power X-former to replace one from National NC-125
boatanchor RCVR which shorted secondary to chassis two evenings ago.
Need 117 vac primary, secondaries 300 vac @ 100 ma, 6.3 vac filaments
@ 3 amps, 5.0 vac @ 2 amps optional. (I can convert rectifier to solid
state.)
Will pay fair market value for new old stock and shipping. Less for
R.F.S. used slavage.
I will be at Tompkins County ARC hamfest at the Tompkins County NY
airport Saturday, 5 Aug. until 10 am, and could deal there with advance
e-mail connection.
Let me know if you've got one of these in your junque box.

[snip]

You should also include the distance from the centers of the mounting bolts
on each side. These sizes are mostly standardized, and you want both an
electrical match and a physical match.

Antique Electonic Supply lists a number of replacement transformers in their
catalog/website.

rec.antiques.radio+phono is another good place to post your request.

............big snip.............. Not eloquent, and maybe even a little
hair raising, but if only one short to ground it can be fixed (OK, klutched)
by insulating the transformer core and frame from the chassis.
Lynn, W7LTQ (who does not necessarily recommend this "fix")

That may turn into a dangerous solution.. it's good that you don't
recommend it. I would think that a 'turn to turn' short is more likely
than a turn to frame short.

If there is more than one turn of the winding being shorted, the turns
ratio will be changed, altering the output. The voltage on the out side
goes up if the primary winding count is reduced and it goes down if it's
the secondary windings getting together.
