Thanks for the info Bob.
The guys I listen to the most are in the midwest. I am in central KY near Lexington. You Left coast guys come in abit later & I am doing other things most of the time that late in the evening. I have heard KI6GU however. Vy 73, Ken KG4BIG Bob Dobbs EC42 wrote: On Sun, 27 Aug 2006 15:51:39 -0700, Ken Wilson wrote: Ace is correct. Art's call was/is W6OBB. He used the phonetics - old broken bottles but was referred to as - outrageous babbling bull**** due to the nature of his radio show's guests. Last time I heard him on 3840 he was using an Icom 7800. I really like the auto CW id he used. That's a CommSpec ID-8 http://www.com-spec.com/id8test.htm Sadly he had a falling out with the group on 3840 before he went to the Philippines & would not use that freq. His big ego arrogance clashed with other big ego types that hang out there but couldn't match his capital outlay for broadcast quality audio processing equipment for their own amateur staions, jealousy perhaps. Also I should note there is a group of guys that use 3840 in the early evenings....2300 UTC +- Sometimes as early as 19:00 UTC (elevenish PDT) .... that are a hoot to listen to.Some of them have been or still are in the Radio Broadcasting buisness. You're probably thinking of Jim Watkins (KI6GU) who has quite a resume of affiliation with commercial radio broadcasting. Also uses the same IDer Art Bell used. -- Echo Charlie 42 San Diego, California |

SC KOOK TV is a former call of Billings, MT station KTVQ. It's also a FTA satellite feed from Pakistan. What about KRAP, is that one taken? KRAP would be a good callsign for Coast to Coast too. SC |

KRAB, 107.7. Tad Cook, the guy who does the ARRL propagation notices worked there. Now it's KKND, The END. A rather nasty sell out and looting. 107.7 is a commercial frequency and the board of directors of Jack Straw Memorial Foundation (?) sold the station out from under the volunteers and other various strange folk who ran the place, and then years later set up a station with much reduced coverage out of Everett. But they were going to do such good things with the millions of dollars they got for it... Mark Zenier Googleproofaddress(account:mzenier provider:eskimo domain:com) |
