I have only recently returned to amateur radio after a 40 year break so am still working on these niggles. Solving the printer PSU problem is as simple as unplugging it but the monitor may well be more complicated, especially if it is radiated from the deflection coils rather than mains borne. Does anyone know if TFT monitors are quieter at RF? Charlie. I use a TFT and i have very little QRN. It adds less than 1% of the existing noise MY only sources of noise a 1. the sat system . I have put a HDD of 80 GB. It adds a razor noise apparent on 6-13 MHz stronger on 11 MHz and on my 16 m hor anternna The 2x16 m antenna does not receive so much 2. two nearby grid towers . These towers are abt 30 m from our home.I found strong noise of S9 on my 2x16 m across all bands and happens mainly on summer periods. This year the noise changed freqs and was apparent on 0-5.5 mHz but not all times ... The stronger was on the MW band with S10 |
