summer. Will be camping out along way

What small rugged model SW would you guys advise for
such a trip?

Not sure how rugged you need it to be. Most of the small Degen,
Redson, Eton, etc., radios would easily survive being carried in a
backpack or pannier. If this is a multi-week trip consider that extra
batteries may take up needed space and add weight.

FR-200. Not "real" small but has the advantage of not needing batteries.
Crank away...
P.S. I wasn't referring to speed when I said crank away....

I have a Kaito 105 that's smaller than the 1101 and fairly rugged,
and the reception is nice.

That thing looks pretty bulky

I have to have small, compact and lightweight as I'm
riding this bike abt 1500 miles and every ounce saved
is worth it
