Eton E5 Vs. Icom R-75

Of course the Icom is the much more sophisticated rx (apparently best suited for ham/ute work, external speaker recommended), but will require mains power and a decent external antenna. That being said, the E5 is pretty good as far as affordable compact portables go. Pitted against the Icom, it will not have the same strong-signal handling, selectivity or low phase noise, let alone SSB reception, though I guess speaker audio would still be better.
