I've read that their ultimate goal is to depose the Kims and make NK into a client state similar to those the Soviets had. A sudden implosion of the regime is not desired, because it would create a huge crisis that the PLA couldn't control, thus forcing them to ask America for help. The Chinese do NOT want US troops messing around in North Korea. The US would likely demand reunification without thinking of the consequences, namely a massive disruption of the South's society and economy that would send Koreans pouring into the US. The North has been such a failure for so long that the South could not absorb it without bringing their materialistic society to a crashing halt. West Germany's economic juggernaut of the 80s was effectively stopped when they had to reunify with the East.- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - AI - Yeah like re-uniting East and West Germany with Four Times the Mess ~ RHF |
