In fact, English is the official language or is spoken widely in many countries in Africa - Nigeria, the Gambia, Sierra Leone, Liberia, etc. Get with it. I don't think Ghana has used 5617. I'm guessing that what was heard was 'Gander Radio', in Newfoundland on the frequency of 5616.
