3-Sided "Bent" Random Wire Antenna Over a Backyard Fence

First most so-called 'Longwire' Antennas used by Shortwave
Listeners (SWLs) are in-fact "Random Wire" Antennas.
.
Your simplest thing is to just have the Wire Antenna Element
from One to Three Feet above the Chain-Link Fence.
.
The Wire Antenna Element will only run around 3-Sides
of the Fence and not form a Loop.
.
It will be what is called a "Bent" Random Wire Antenna.
.
At the starting Point of the Wire Antenna Element place
an 8-Foot Ground Rod in the Ground.
.
Mount a 9:1 Matching Transformer on or very near the
Ground Rod and Ground {connect} the 9:1 Matching
Transformer as directed.
.
Run the Wire Antenna Element straight-up from the 9:1
Matching Transformer to the First Antenna Support Point;
and then along to the Rest of the Antenna Support Points
along the Fence.
.
Tip - Use 8-10 Feet long pieces of PVC Pipe as the Antenna
Supports held in place with Black Plastic Ties is an Easy-Up.
- - - Before you put-up the PVC Pipe paint it Green
and use Green Antenna Wire.

-IF- You want to use or need to use Higher Corner Support
Points for the Wire Antenna Element; that will work too.

Between the Radio and the 9:1 Matching Transformer
use a Coax Cable as the feed-in-line.
.
You now have your 3-Sided "Bent" Random Wire Antenna
mounted over a Fence going around 3-Sides of the Yard;
and it is a Horizontal Antenna too.

The "Bent" Random Wire Antenna for the most part
is an Omni-Directional Antenna that receives well
from all directions.

Remember that I'm a newbie! I have read that the direction
of a longwire antenna determines how effectively it will
receive radio waves from a certain direction,
i.e., a NS antenna is better at receiving signals from the EW.

I have also read that, if one cannot set up an outdoor antenna,
it makes sense to run a long wire in a room by configuring it
in a square, along the 4 walls.

That said, has anyone tried using a squared longwire antenna
along the perimeter of their yard?

I have a roughly 40' x 50' back yard with chain link fence
around three sides.
.
Would there be an advantage to string the longwire (suspended
with nylon rope some distance in) around three of the corners,
sort of like the top rope of a boxing ring?

That would give me about 120' of longwire oriented in two directions.
