JS,

The Terminated {Shorted} Speaker Wire "Skinny" Loop SWL Antenna :
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Shortw.../message/14485
.
The Speaker Wires can be made into a long-thin-loop Antenna.
.
As you describe 'connect' the Far-End Wires together.
.
At the near-end 'connect' the two Speaker Wires to a
TV type 300 Ohm to 75 Ohm Matching Transformer.
.
One Speaker Wire each to one of the 300 Ohm Wire Leads
of the Matching Transformer.
.
Use RG6 Quad Coax Cable as your Antenna's feed-in-line.
Note - The RG6 Quad Coax Cable should be at least 25-Foot
long and 50-Foot would be better. -Why- Because you want
to get your Shortwave Listener's (SWL) Antenna Up-in-the-Air
and Away-of-the-House as much as possible.
.
Use 'whatever' Connection / Adapter that you need on the
Radio-End of the RG6 Quad Coax Cable's "F" Connector
to match-up and connect-to your Radio / Receiver.
.
This is a rather 'stealthy' [Hidden] Antenna especially
-if- your run it along or near the top of a Wooden Fence.
.
-Why- Use a Wooden Fence for a Stealth [Hidden]
Shortwave Listener's (SWL) Antenna ?
* Fence is made of Wood and does not interfere with
the Electrical properties of the SWL Antenna.
* Usually the Fence is several feet away from the House
and out of the House's RFI Noise Zone.
* Fence is "There" already - hence no construction is required.
* Fence is Long and Straight and the Wire Antenna Element
will be Out-of-the-Way and not a Hazard to anyone.
* Mounted and Rigged just a few inches below the Top
of the Fence {on your side of the Fence} the Neighbors
will not know that it is 'there'. { Again Stealth [Hidden] }
* Your biggest obstacle is getting the Coax Cable from
the House to the Fence : Under-Ground; On-the-Ground;
Up-over-Head-in-the-Air.
.
.
Give this basic Shortwave Listener's (SWL) Antenna a Try.
.
I had one of these made of 100-Feet of Landscaping Lighting
Cable Heavy Duty Zip Cord {Power Cord} comes in basic Black.
Landscaping Lighting Cable = http://tinyurl.com/36fae6
It was mounted about 2-Feet above a Chain-Link Fence.
.
THE NEXT STEP - Changing the Speaker Wire Loop Antenna

Basically un-connect the Speaker Wires at the Far-End
and Split the Two Speaker Wires apart for Half as many
Feet as you have to put-up a Dipole Antenna. Secure
the end-of-the-split with several wraps of Black Electrical
Tape and hold that in place with 2-3 Black Plastic Ties.
Rig your Dipole as space and location permit.

Default Terminated Folded on a Fence Dipole (TF2D) Antenna

Yodar,

The simplest and easiest T2FD Antenna is not Tilted
-because- it is mounted on . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

You Got It ) - - - - - - - - - - a Wooden Fence !

So it is a Terminated Folded on a Fence Dipole (TF2D) Antenna
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Shortw.../message/14517

Top-Wire runs along the Fence about a Foot below the Top.

Bottom-Wire runs along the Fence about a Foot above the Bottom.

Distance between the Top and Bottom Wires is 2~5 Feet

Length of the Top and Bottom Wires is as long as your Fence.

Feed-Point is at the Center of the Bottom Wire.
- - - Place a Ground Rod here to to attach to the Coax Cable
and the Feed-in-Line Side of the 4:1 Matching Transformer
{Balun}

Terminating Resistor 400 Ohms ~ 900 Ohms is located at
the Center of the Top Wire. Start with 600 Ohms and
work up or down to find out what works for you.

The Top and Bottom Wire Ends are Joined at the Ends.

Feed the 4:1 Matching Transformer {Balun} with a Coax Cable.

WINDOM-IZE-IT

Since this is not "Tilted" and is close to the Ground.
The Frequency Variable Factor that Tilting provided for
the Antenna can be achieved by placeing the Feed-Point
and Terminating Resistor at the 38:62 Off-Center-Point
of the Top and Bottom Wires. { Windom-Ize-It }

Call this a Terminated Folded Windom (TFD) Antenna

BUT . . . MY YARD & FENCE ARE . . .

Fence Not Long Enough ? -or- Location Not Right ?
Can't Mount this Antenna along one side of the Yard ?

Mount it in a Corner along two adjacent Fence Sides
and make the Feed-Point at the Corner.

i b tilted and on de fence - iane ~ RHF
