Emmis stock 5-year low from $27 to $4

wrote: Emmis stock from a high of $27 in 2003 to a current low of $4 - Eduardo! Was there any effect from the "Tsunami Song" shtunk on their "Hot 97" station in New York? After the Boxing Day Tsunami in the Indian Ocean, the Emmis hip hop station in NYC, WQHT, had a parody of "We are the world" concerning the Tsunami victims which had all of the good taste of a Don Imus or Howard Stern with none of the wit. Some protest by people like a Chinese-American city council member caused some of the advertisers to leave the morning zoo lineup. How long they left I don't know. H.L. Mencken once said that no one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people and I should guess this goes at least triple for the audience of morning zoo-type programs. Another problem that happened with this station was that its landlord, the Carpenters' Union, tried to evict them because of gun play involving hip hop musicians, their "possies" and their rivals. |

No. The issue here is poor overall performance of the company, mostly based in the Chicago and LA clusters. |

Citadel and Emmis are in penny-stock territory and CC is history - your whole industry, plus HD Radio, are headed for the toilet. |

Clear Channel is going private... meaning investment bankers believe it has greater value than the market is giving it. Good example: SBS has a market cap today that is below the market value of just one of its NY FMs, and they have twenty-some additional stations and a TV operation on top of that. In other words, were SBS shares more widely held, it would be a huge buy-out candidate. |

The guy mentioned in the second news article is also a candidate for the insane asylum. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qKMK5hbJ6i8 ...and to think you voted for him. At least it wasn't three times during the same election, like Burr. mike |
