Dear Mark,
I too had a Sangean ATS-808AP. It lasted about three years. Unfortunately, this model seems to have somewhat variable quality control and longevity. I know a person who has owned one since 1998 and it still functions perfectly, but, when they do "go," unless you yourself can fix the problem(s) inexpensively, it is probably best to relegate the radio to the trash. You can easily buy a new, far better performing, radio for less than $80.00. I think a repair, if it is possible at all, will cost as much or even more than that. All wires appear to be connected correctly. Speaker is ok. Volume control is ok. No manual tuning when turning rotary tuning knob. Direct entry and up/down funtion ok. Signal strength shows full scale indication on all or any frequency. Should I bother trying to fix these problems or are they beyond help? Thanks, Mark. |
