![]() wrote in message ... hey guys, i read a couple of posts and i must say you guys are far beyond me in my understanding of the whole damn thing. but today I bought a $40.00 shortwave radio @ Radio Shack thinking that I'd come home and listen to all sorts of broadcasts from the globe over and all I freakin' get is some queer broadcast coming in very vaguely from Canada. Should I go buy a bigger radio? am I doing something wrong? I looked at the frequencies list and just can't seem to get in on anything? suggestions? Try doing some tuning around at night say after 6 or 7 pm your local time. Eventually you should find the BBC, Radio Havana, Canada, Germany and many other major stations. Try the 49 meter band around 6.000 Mhz. Also you might want to add a few feet of speaker wire for a little bit of a longer antenna. As well as get the radio closer to a window or at least the antenna closer to a window. That might help if you live in a metal frame building. If you live in a stick built home, it shouldnt matter. Feel free to ask questions. I am sure there are many in here willing to help. |
