Default what is the future of shortwave?

I think broadcasting of all types will continue in it's various forms.
You will still hear AM, FM, SSB, and new forms like Digital. What will
change is the recieiving equipment to include the new forms of
transmission.


Remember when Star Trek's Uhuru says something like "it's an old style
radio wave, amplitude modulated"?

HF shortwave will always be useful for specialized applications, but
is unlikely to serve general broadcasting in the long term.
