In reality, my next little project won't start until early March, so I'm on my first break in about three years. A good project to occupy your time until then might be to contact Ottawa and inquire as to why CanaDuh let those 250,000 Cuban children die. I thought it was 500,000. Might have been. After all, you Canucks are thoughtless killers. |

BDK If you are an American, you better care, because there are people dying in your name. Didn't Vince Foster die in Hillary's name? Mighty suspicious. * *Only Foster? * *The list of names of Clinton associates who've exited the building is ponderous. * *But on the subject of dying in the name of America..... * *I had a conversation with an Army pilot who's just returned after two years in Iraq. He's amazed at the press the operation is getting. He refers to it as an operation because he's no longer seeing enough conflict in the region to call it a war. * *Two stories he had to tell that made the impact of the discrepancy between what's going on on the ground, there, and the reportage in the press significant. While we're getting the horror in our living rooms, he's seeing a country about the size of Texas, with pretty much peaceful living, except for fighting in 3 regions. Imagine the three worst counties in Texas and you have an idea the size of the conflict. Where it's bad, it's bad. But most of the country is not seeing the insurgency. * *Well, ok....two stories.... * *One is the story of a decision made to include the right to keep and bear arms in the new Iraqi Constitution. Hotly debated, but only on this side of the pond. See, al Quaeda was well known for invading people's homes, putting a knife to the throats of young children in the home and announcing the home had been selected to assist in the efforts of al Quaeda. Well, that's what you get when the public is disarmed. * *So, it was decided to include the right to keep and bear arms as a fundamental right of citizenship. * *Well, Military operations, US, Iraqi, and coalition forces, unearthed a cache of weapons in a small town in one of the areas seeing a good deal of al Quaeda activity. Mostly AK's, a few hand guns. So, they pass them out to every able bodied citizen who wants one. And with their brand new rifles...30 bullets to each citizen carrying one. *One rifle. 30 cartridges. The newly armed citizens return to their homes for the evening. * * In the morning, in the village square. *18 dead al Quaeda. Arranged neatly for easy disposal. 18 dead al Quaeda. * * No one "knows" what happened. * * The town doesn't see another al Quaeda home invasion. Al Quaeda moves on. IMHO - We could use the same Clean-Up in many of our Inner-City Urban Locations to help reduce Gangs and Drugs. * * The other story is a bit more poignant. It's about religion. And it's about religion in a nation that's seen more than it's share of religion driven killing. * * This is in Baghdad. Now, the government was planning to sell off the vacant homes of Christians run off during the early days of the conflict. Al Quaeda had been purging the city of non-Muslims. As things settled down, following the retaking of Baghdad, some, but not all of the Christians had returned. But the government had made the decisions to sell off the unoccupied homes. Almost in unison, the community petitioned the government to stop the sales. Promising that the Christians would be returning. These are primarily Muslims. Petitioning the government to let them care for, maintain, and ready the homes for Christians whom they were fully convinced would return. And so far, these Muslims have been right. Christians are returning to Baghdad. Welcomed as the brethren they are, by their Muslim neighbors. * * This return of Christianity has resulted in some amazing moments of unity. One was the opening of a new Catholic Cathedral. This is in Baghdad, now. A new Catholic Cathedral. And on the first day of worship, the faithful could barely get near the place for all the Imams and Mullahs, from the Muslim community, lined up halfway down the block, to shake the hand of the Catholic Priest in his new house of worship. These are Muslims, lining up to shake the hands of the Catholic Priest. In Baghdad. * * The construction of the Cathedral, itself, is something of a wonder. |
