Radio wants no talent, Cheap, part time & no benefits. The trends are towards more voice tracking, yes more, not less and cyber jocking. Hello Rent-A-Jock. If radio rises out of the ashes is may come back better than ever, so far leadership is still moving towards cutting more fat. Localism and being a part of the community is a thing of the past. Consolation was the worst thing ever to happen to radio. I was great for the greed mongers (Mays family) who run Clear Channel, Cox Broadcasting and the rest of the radio morons. But in the end they've destroyed the industry. HD so far is dead because of lack of interest from listeners. And more gadgets are on the horizon. While HD struggles to be standard equipment in most vehicles, you watch the internet will be the gadget of choice. And cheap wimax wireless access will be everyplace. The best thing that could happen is stations go dark and station values hit rock bottom. Like the housing bubble. Then real radio operators will come in and start over again. We might have a chance but the above must happen first.. Bain/lee the suckers who bought Clear Channel may very well be the first group to fall. These guys are investors not radio operators. Live and local; news on the music stations; live bands; studio audiences; experimentation; etc. |
