Default Hurricanes bring good DX

I am in Hobe Sound Florida, one mile from the ocean, and for some
strange reason, MW DX is coming in from the Caribbean, last night I
picked up WDHP, US Virgin Islands and other other antilles. I guess
that is the only good thing about these damned hurricanes!

During emergencies some MW stations do not cut back power at sunset.

That's about 1200 miles from you Bob = nice catch and well done.
I can sometimes get it from our Seefontein DX site on my Kiwa loop and
the Icom. WDHP is 10 Kw day and 1 Kw night time power.

What time did you get it in UTC/zulu?
And what radio and antenna were you using?

John Plimmer, Montagu, Western Cape Province, South Africa
South 33 d 47 m 32 s, East 20 d 07 m 32 s
Icom IC-7700, Icom IC-756 PRO III with MW mods
ERGO software
Drake SW8. Sangean 803A
Sony 7600D, GE SRIII, Redsun RP2100
Antenna's RF Systems DX 1 Pro Mk II, Datong AD-270
Kiwa MW Loop.

During emergencies some MW stations do not cut back power at sunset.

But doing so requires an STA from the FCC; in extreme emergencies (like a
daytimer being only local station) the FCC tends to be understanding if a
station operates at variance.

The night Gustav hit New Orleans I was easily able to hear WWL 870 kc using
SRIII
I'm about 900 land miles away, and 60 miles from KRVN 880 kc (very
powerful),
so it takes a decent reciever for me to resolve them.
