Default The ObaMa0 attack on Talk Radio is Real -- Call to Action

There are more strong signals coming from the Obama Administration
reflecting an intent to put Talk Radio out of business -- or at least
reshape it to censor critical voices and points of view.

When I launched UnFairAir (www.unfairair.org) some weeks ago, we knew
that several U.S. Senators had publicly called for a re-instatement of
the "Fairness Doctrine"; we knew that draft FCC regulations mandating
"localism" and "diversity of ownership" had been circulating since
early 2008; we also knew that the Obama transition team had vetted pro-
Fairness Doctrine appointees to the FCC.

What we now also know is that the Obama Administration is circulating
a proposal for a new "spectrum use" tax and another proposal for
"diversity" of station ownership -- mandating racial and gender quotas
as to who should be "allowed" to own radio stations.

What's at stake here ? Simply put--Free Speech on the Radio.

Here's the history in a nutshell that you need to know.

There are 4,789 AM broadcast radio stations licensed in the U.S. Over
2,000 of these program some kind of "talk show" on every conceivable
topic in every imaginable language. The "Fairness Doctrine", conceived
in the 1920's when a few dozen stations dominated the airwaves is
silly in light of today's reality of thousands of listening choices.

Nonetheless, Senator Dick Durbin (D--Ill) in March submitted an
amendment to the D.C. Voting Bill which would require the FCC to
affirmatively "encourage and promote diversity in...media ownership"
and reaffirming FCC authority to mandate the presentation "of opposing
points of view on issues of public importance".

Senator Durbin's language faithfully echoed the language written by
Senator Barack Obama on 9/20/07 in a letter to the FCC using the
"localism" argument on behalf of Jesse Jackson in a dispute with a
Chicago radio station.

http://www.fcc.gov/ownership/hearing-chicago092007.html

In June, 2007, the Center for American Progress (
http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/g...asp?grpid=6709
led by Clinton aide John Podesta http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/i...asp?indid=1626
)
published "The Structural Imbalance of Political Talk Radio" which
made the argument that Big Corporate ownership favored right wing talk
radio and excluded left wing talk radio. The answer to the problem?
Government mandated diversity of station ownership. If left wing talk
radio can't compete in the marketplace (a fact that is beyond
dispute), then Big Government must mandate it. [HEIL HITLER!]

In November 2008, John Podesta was co-chair of the Obama Transition.
Podesta appointed pro-Fairness Doctrine former FCC Commissioner Henry
Rivera to the FCC Transition Team. Rivera's law firm includes former
FCC Chairman Kevin Martin who authored the draft regulations dated
1/24/08 which, if enacted by the full FCC, would require "localism".

Specifically, the Martin draft regs. would require "permanent advisory
boards comprised of local officials and other community leaders to
advise (station managers) of local needs and issues", in effect, a
permanent complaint department. Advertisers were specifically excluded
from serving on these "advisory boards".

Community activist groups are already organizing to enforce these
regulations. For example, the National Asian-Pacific Legal Consortium
has a "fill-in the blanks" FCC complaint form on their website today.

The model here is the 1978 Community Redevelopment Act (CRA
http://www.city-journal.org/html/10_...on_dollar.html ) which
set up a similar complaint process in mortgage lending which allowed
ACORN ( http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/g...asp?grpid=6968
) to intimidate lenders to give mortgages to the "undeserved".
Funding for "community groups" was included in the Stimulus Bill,
presumably including groups such as NAPLC in order to subsidize
members to serve on the radio station "permanent advisory boards".

These draft FCC regs, in some version, will be back before the (Obama
majority) FCC as early as this summer for enactment and enforcement.

While the wider aim is to assert tighter government control over all
radio programming, the immediate target here is conservative talk
radio. The "progressive" tilt at publicly funded NPR, or the Big
Business ownership of liberal leaning network news does not bother
Obama. He knows that the executives at GE and NBC Universal will self
censor to avoid criticism. In a recent meeting, GE CEO Jeff Immelt
and NBC Universal President Jeff Zucker met to discuss how to limit
criticism of Obama on MSNBC.

But free speech advocates not affiliated with conservative talk radio
are beginning to speak up. The Society for Professional Journalism
opposes the "Fairness Doctrine" and any government mandate on
"fairness" as just another form of censorship by the government.

The time for YOU to act is now--the need is urgent."

A coalition is forming to fight for freedom of the airwaves and real
diversity of opinion. Find out how to get involved at www.unfairair.org.
Do it now.

The "attack is Real"?? Only in your Fox-News-contaminated-thinking,
Donkey Doo. Get up to date on a few things.

1. A Federal Court UPHELD THE REPEAL of the Fairness Doctrine back in
1989.

http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpag...C0A96F9482 60

2. Obama has already voiced his DISAPPROVAL of re-instating the
Fairness Doctrine.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/firs...ness-doctrine/

3. However, it IS TRUE that Representatives Hinchey and Slaughter have
introduced a bill to bring back the Fairness Doctrine on more than one
occasion, but the bills have DIED IN COMMITTEE.

Calm down, have a rest, and try aroma therapy, a colon cleanse....or
sumthin'. Better yet, just try to stay informed with some real facts.

Obama campaign confronts WGN radio

DENVER -- Sen. Barack Obama's campaign organized its supporters
Wednesday night to confront Tribune-owned WGN-AM in Chicago for having
a critic of the Illinois Democrat on its air.

"WGN radio is giving right-wing hatchet man Stanley Kurtz a forum to
air his baseless, fear-mongering terrorist smears," Obama's campaign
wrote in an e-mail to supporters. "He's currently scheduled to spend a
solid two-hour block from 9:00 to 11:00 p.m. pushing lies,
distortions, and manipulations about Barack and University of Illinois
professor William Ayers."

Kurtz, a conservative writer, recently wrote an article for the
National Review that looked at Obama's ties to Ayers, a former 1960s
radical who later emerged as a school reform advocate in Chicago.

The magazine had been blocked in its initial attempts to obtain
records from the University of Illinois at Chicago regarding a school
reform initiative called the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, which Obama
chaired and Ayers co-founded.

Obama critics were quick to suggest that political clout could be
involved in seeking to protect Obama from embarrassment. The school
later reserved its position and made the records available Tuesday.

On Wednesday evening, Obama's campaign urged supporters to call the
radio station to complain.

"Tell WGN that by providing Kurtz with airtime, they are legitimizing
baseless attacks from a smear-merchant and lowering the standards of
political discourse," the note said.

"It is absolutely unacceptable that WGN would give a slimy character
assassin like Kurtz time for his divisive, destructive ranting on our
public airwaves," the note continued. "At the very least, they should
offer sane, honest rebuttal to every one of Kurtz's lies."

Zack Christenson, executive producer of "Extension 720 with Milt
Rosenburg," said the response was strong.

"I would say this is the biggest response we've ever got from a
campaign or a candidate," he said. "This is really unprecedented with
the show, the way that people are flooding the calls and our email
boxes."

Christenson said the Obama campaign was asked to have someone appear
on the show and declined the request.

"He got into the files just yesterday, so we wanted to have him on to
find out what he found. And, if at all possible, we wanted to get the
Obama campaign, to get their side of the story," Christenson said.
"That's why the uproar is kind of amazing, because we wanted the Obama
campaign's take as well."

The show's producer said the calls dropped off after the show's first
hour. He did not have a count of calls, but said it was "non-stop."

Obama's campaign has launched similar offensives against stations that
have run campaign ads that it did not like.

Library.

Default More cut and paste garbage from the lonesome loser

As you all know I'm incapable of original thought since the head
injury I sustained as a child. Consequently I spend all of my time
plagarizing off topic posts using the cut and paste articles provided
to
me by the John Birch Society since the election of that negro as
President.
As I am unemployed I have lots of free time I pledge to continue to
do
so for the next four years of his Presidency.

Oh sure I've ruined and will continue to ruin the shortwave newsgroup
for all of you who merely
desired to enjoy your radio hobby and selfishly believe this
newsgroup
is for shortwave radio information. But I will continue to post my
inane off topic political rants because I must. My psychiatrist calls
it therapeutic, I call it my DUTY!

As I canvass the neighborhoods of Richardson and the greater Dallas
area, screaming and
waving my latest top secret plan to save the
United States of America I don't need to hear the usual taunts -
"take
your medication!" "Get lost you ignorant racist", "wasn't that you on
the poster warning about the results of incest?" "how do you squueze
that fat ass and beer belly into your klan robe? You look like a
moving figure 8!" "your brown pants
go
great with your yellow teeth!"it's called HEAD LICE - look into it!",

On and on it goes but I will not stop. Like my mentor at the local
Klavern told me last night - they are just jealous of us because we
have the inside scoop on the way things REALLY work in the world. And
it's our Divinely appointed duty to educate the world about the grand
conspiracy to enslave us all.

On a personal note; just to let you all know that I am indeed human
and not some kind of mythical super hero here is a pic of me hard at
work educating a youngster in one of my favorite groups - Kiddies
Killing Kommunisn. http://www.bobbyworks.com/images/fat...20computer.jpg
