BTW, the 706 is the same rig with more coverage and 100 watts out on HF. Since
it is more popular, you may be able to find a used one cheaper if you want to
to that way. Note there were several models of both, so make sure you buy the
one you really want.

The 706, and many of the other's I recommended have removable and or
remotable front panels. You can mount the radio in the trunk and run a cable
(or with the newer ones a fiber optic) to the front.

I live in a neighborhood full of cops, firefighters, truckers, and blue
collar entertainment workers. I am 30 miles North of Beverly Hills.
