students, but only 3,366 votes were cast. The referendum passed with
nearly 75 percent of the vote. * According to the Colonel Reb Foundation, in 2003 the University Administration tried to change the mascot despite 94% of students voting to keep Colonel Reb on the field. 94% to 18.7%? Liars liars pants on fire. The fix was in. Upon reflection the numbers are worse. 94% wanting to keep the Colonel dropped to approximately 4.67% wanting to keep him (using the Administration's tally claiming 75% of the 3366 voters favored banning Colonel Reb). Even Chicago politicians are blushing over this one. Good grief. |
