Alkalines versus NiMH

Replace at 2/3 sounds useful. You wouldn't want to be out on
a hike, and have your CB go dead.

What do you do with the 1/3 charged batteries? Hope you
don't leave them out on in the woods, or desert or
something.

The life of the battery is more or less fixed. That is,
it's a
consistent drain, and so life of a given battery line from
fully
charged is the same unit to unit. You can count on the life
of the
battery being a more or less constant number of hours.

Keep track of the hours on a battery, replace it at 2/3's
of life.

I used all wireless mics on all my live radio, TV, and
stage
shows. Never a problem with mics due to battery life.

I did notice some wireless mics were intermittent, from
time to
time. Traced that to a poor battery fit. Returned from
Energizers to
Duracells or ProCells and the problem never returned.

Relevant, how?

You don't do wireless mics for live TV.

The upshot is that when a wireless mike using NiMH cells on live TV
goes south, it screws up your TV show. *That's reasonably relevant, I
thought.

We go through several 5 gallon buckets of AAs a year.

What show is it, Dave? *A local show or something that gets some
syndication or network exposure?

I do live network shows. *If you watch TV you've seen shows I work on.- Hide quoted text -

Which network? I rarely watch daytimes (virtually never); eves I
watch NCIS and some news shows.

No, not at all. They get pressed into other service requiring
less instantaneous demand, until they're dead. Some alkalines can be
recharged to 75% of new capacity. Those that can't are disposed of
at recycling centers.

For the most part, I use NiMH cells in wireless devices. Replace
at 2/3's charge service, and recharge.

LOL! NCIS, especially the Mark Harmon original series, is a great
show - excellent characters, decent plots, good attitude towards
military personnel.

As for me, I try - TRY, mind you - to like everyone, even when we
disagree to some extent politically. I don't always succeed - people
who refuse to actually *think* and prefer to mindlessly spout
ideological sludge - whether liberal or conservative - drive me crazy.

Would you use this for mobile CB, or what?

It applies to battery operated CB HTs as well.

We give ours to charities if they have any service left in them. We
e-waste the dead ones.

All of them. I'm building Kids' Choice Awards on Monday for CBS. I
actually work for the audio subcontractor. We are very good at what we do.
