I am looking at a spectrum display and one of the sidebands is
missing. AM mode sounds distorted a bit. In synchronus AM mode sounds
OK. Maybe they are trying to save money. Bro Stair recently cut his

Looks like they might be sending amplitude compandered single sideband
on 9330kHz. Glenn Hauser mentions this in one of his columns regarding
9330 using CUSB. You can test it out. Put your radio in LSB and you
hear very little. USB and you hear the normal signal. But you still
have a pilot carrier so it will sound OK in AM mode.
