A Hell of a week, and it isn't over yet.

A small tornado spinup (that is what Barbie Bassett at WLBT 4:30 PM tv
news called it, a small tornado spinup) was sighted near Swiftown.
cuhulin, not a spinup

I LOVE tornados. *Wish I was there.

You'd love 'em until you were in one. When I was 12, one touched down just a
couple blocks away from my aunt's house in St. Louis. They are NOT fun to
watch up that close.. : /

I understand, Brenda - but...

I chased them in Texas 1982-1983. *I was an atmo sci grad student at
Texas Tech. *I was:

Hit by a small tornado, probably F0-F1
Hit by baseball-sized slushy hail
Hit by lightning

We saw many tornadoes, although when we were *that* close, we had
other things on our minds besides taking pictures. Nonetheless, I'd do
it all again, every day, if I could. *It was the best thing I ever
did.

I do have a few photos:

Ah man, I just looked at those - what a trip. I had bought at a Barnes
store some years back a "weather book." It is the size (longer in
length than in heighth) and makeup that you can keep it in your glove
box or actually keep it in your back pocket if you're standing up.
Light blue flexible soft cover and it shows the name of every cloud
and what area that specific cloud is seen at....and what type of
atmospheric conditions have to be present for that specific cloud and
on and on. Then it has a seperate section on storms /tornados/
hurricanes/lightning etc. etc. and every cloud and storm described is
accompanied by a killer color pic.

Just thought I would bring that up seeings how we're talking about the
subject.:-) My weather manual has definitely gotten used more than the
binder was made for and dollar for dollar - was one of the best
purchases I ever made. Now if I can only find it...lol...I misplaced
it a while back and haven't been able to find it. It isn't "lost" -
just misplaced. ;-)
