You only get 1080p very rarely in the real world. Not worth a big premium. 1080P is HDTV . Anything less is a gimmick . And the difference is easy to see . You're talking to someone who has built a couple dozen commercial TV stations and who has been auditioning hi-def for broadcast for over 15 years. ABC and Fox both chose 720p because it is superior for sports to 1080i. 1080p was never considered for broadcast because the MPEG2 data stream is too big to fit in a 6 MHz channel. DiSH Network broadcasts a few 1080P channels, with H264 type coding. At normal viewing distance, the only way to tell the difference is by knowing tell-tale artifacts ahead of time.
