Sound cannot transverse space, a vacuum. However, radio waves do. Both
sound waves and radio waves need a media to transverse or they cannot
travel a distance. The media in space is the ether (or, aether.)
Einstein called it the "gravitational aether."

A google search on gravitational aether and Einstein will give one much
to digest ...
