Well, that's the natural order of things. First hand knowledge of the Revolution faded away almost 200 years ago. Now we mark it with grilling hot dogs and terrifying dogs with firecrackers over a few days in July.

It is a shame that nearly all Americans take an oversimplified +ACI-good guys vs. bad guys+ACI view of the Civil War. But the national amnesia started around 1870 on that one.

Some creatures of the sea are very long lived and sound can travel underwater for hundreds of miles. Sea turtles may not have retained any specific memories of the attack at Pearl Harbor but whales? Maybe.

I suppose underwater nuke tests would have made an even bigger impression.
