Somebody else has already said, "fix the Sony," so I'll suggest a
secondhand Radio Shack DX-390 or 392. Other than the 392's built in
tape recorder, these are the same radio. Both are discontinued at RS,
the DX-390 about five years ago, and the DX-392 three years ago. They
are still made by Sangean, which gives them the model numbers ATS818
and ATS818cs.

I wish Sangean had put a (politically incorrect) pack of cigarettes in
the picture with that radio to give you some idea how big it is. It is
about 12" wide, so it is not as easy to lug around as a YB400, Sony
7600, or Sangean 909.
