frank halaburak wrote: Nice job Steve, how long have you been a SWL ? Frank, Montreal,Canada I started SWL'ing in 1966-67 when my father and I built a Knight-Kit Star Roamer. I never really got into the hobby to deeply then. I really got into the hobby in 1981-82 when I was off from school for Christmas break and looking for something to do I got the old Knight-Kit out. One thing led to another and I purchased a Yaesu FRG-7700 in March of '82. The rest is history I guess! It took me about 12 years to get 200 countries QSL'd, the last 9 years I haven't made much progress as I think I slacked off a bit! We'll see if I can pry a few more outta the system this season. Steve Holland, MI I'm guessing you have quite a few QSL's from countries that no longer exist, right? They must be very cool to look at. I tried desperately just to get a passport stamp from Hong Kong before it became China. Didn't manage it. An old girlfriend of mine had her grandmother's passport from pre-Bolshevik Russia. There's something bizarrely interesting about historical orphans like that. -- Col. I.P. Yurin Commissariat of Internal Security Stakhanovite Order of Lenin (1937) Hero of Socialist Labor (1939) |
