Alan Smithee wrote: Just spent the week on the west coast of Vancouver Island DXing... well trying to. Most nights it was wicked (that's a bad thing!) - way too much hum and/or white noise as reported. If anyone is aware of the Tofino/Ucluelet area you know that there's absolutely nothing between it and Japan. Don't understand the problem. Puzzling! Out of the blue one night I did get Radio Denmark clear as a bell, then it drifted. Perhaps the ionosphere isn't dead - it's just taking a break! Today I was listening to Radio Netherlands broadcast from Netherlands Antilles to Africa on 17810 fade in and out over a couple of hours time with the D level absorption event that occurred today while watching the data on this page update in real time. Pretty cool. http://www.sec.noaa.gov/rt_plots/dregion.html -- Telamon Ventura, California |
