It's not national news if the upper midwest experiences zero temps because it only effects the 500 people living there and the millions and millions of moose, elk and bear that live there too. What's more newsworthy? The fact that it is cold in the upper midwest where it is cold like this every winter. Or on the east coast where it rarely gets below zero. Odd weather makes news. Just like if New York emptied out and moved to Milwaukee. Now that would be news. |
