All these guys Know SWR; antennas, ground, Pre amps, Scanners; frequencies,
propagation, ALL of it

Radio Shack is good for Cell phones & other cheap, tacky geegaws;
- maybe batteries in a pinch

- totally useless for SWR radio stuff

Ask them what " Radio Shack" means;

you just get a spaced out stare..

My observations a

1. On many frequencies - both day and night - I will be receiving
absolutely nothing but static + rushing noise with the CCRadio+. When I turn
on and tune the CC Antenna, I'll get a reasonably strong station "most of the
time" (subjective).

2. Particularly at night but - occasionally during the day - I can, by
tuning the antenna, actually get two stations on one frequency and get both
of them quite well enough for them to be "clear (or "4x4" if you like that
sort of rating).


The antenna works.

I'm in a horrible location over the river and under the hill and with only a
sealed-window facing South for an indoor antenna. I have the antenna itself
at the midpoint (where the top and bottom meet).

A very impressive antenna.

after the terrorist attacks), and is trained to sell cellphones. She
said that people ask her questions about "that stuff back there" (the
parts section) but she doesn't know what it is, much less what it's
meant for. She said I knew more about it than she did.

(given the original header of the post) that, to my knowledge, Radio
Shack *never* "made" their own radios. Some of their stuff is "made to
their specifications" however you want to interpret that, but I don't
think they have their own manufacturing facility for anything, and don't
know if they ever did. The DX-402 Bob refers to, for example, was made
by Sangean.

Yeah, the folks left at C.Crane renamed the Chris Justice Antenna (now that
he's no longer with them -- he's at RadioLabs).

I agree with everything you wrote about it. If you live in an accidental
"Faraday cage" because of metal studs or siding, it's a great way to bring
in strong AM signals.

Also, to answer another post, yes -- it is directional, but I don't find it
as quite as directional as a CCRadio+, even though it has two of the same
8-inch ferrite coils in it that the CCRadio has.

Your reading comprehension needs work. The claim was that RS ever made
anything (read it again, slowly). That is not the case.

I would Agree with your assessment of the Justice AM Antenna.

To me Justice AM Antenna by C. Crane Co. is a "Great Signal Magnet"
for those who are in locations that have very poor AM/MW Reception.

* The Justice AM Antenna is directional but not as directional
as a Select-A-Tenna Model 541-M; or a home made Box Loop Antenna
of about 15" or bigger.

* The Justice AM Antenna's 'advantage' over the Select-A-Tenna
Model 541-M; or a home made Box Loop Antenna of about 15" or bigger;
is that is an ACTIVE "Tuned AM/MW Antenna" and because of it's
