![]() "Joe" wrote in message ... Weird things in the sky here !! LOTs of people stopped there cars, I just got back (was on Beacon Hill Port Washington) 7PM between over the water Glen Cove and Rye New York, lot of extra lights in the sky, changing direction. Long oval over the water, 8 or 9 RED blinking lights on bottom. Anybody have anything ? -Joe Already ID'ed as the Goodyear Airship going south over NY then making the loooong slow right turn, crossing over NJ, Pa and finally home to it's home near Akron Ohio later tonight. I'm wondering why their flying tonight with a snowstorm on the way! They were also flying *lower* than normal altitude as the dewpoints from about 3000 feet to surface are at 7°F, plus the RH is around 25% - 30%. If they were to fly any higher, where the clouds are they would quickly ice-up. NOT something you want to encounter in an Airship, let alone a fixed wing or rotating wing aircraft. Hope this helps! |
