Of course. That's well known. But people usually refer to John Paul II
simply as "The Pope". Brother Stair always refers to "The Pope of
Rome". So, why the distinction? The Prophet must be aware of other
Popes.


Many non-Catholics who do not believe in the authority of the Pope refer to
him as "The Pope of Rome", so as to infer "he's THEIR Pope, not ours.. "
