When you dis-assemble the radio make sure you get the connectors back in the proper spots, and be very careful with the display.
There is very little disassembling to do. The only connector that has to be removed from the PC board is the encoder wiring harness plug. It doesn't involve anything with the display other than removing the clear plastic window in front of the display, which comes off with the front black panel. It might help to remove the screws which hold the front chassis panel (under the front black panel) to the main chassis, so you can pull the front chassis panel forward a little to gain better access to the encoder from the bottom.
