want to know is, is there a step by step guide on how to do this I know I
will need a cable going into my soundcard and software.

Where can I get a cable and what sort.

What software will I need

Hi

The cord you'll want will have a connector that fits the headphone or speaker output jack on your radio (probably 1/4" or 1/8") and a 1/8" miniplug on the other end.

Here is a link to a web site with a variety of software programs:

Simply conect to REC OUT (second above PHONES) to LINE IN to your
soundcard. Two 3.5 mm stero phone plugs on each end. I bet you can find it
in any radioshack.

As for soft I recomend MixW2 http://mixw.net/ and some from digimode
decoding from www.dxsoft.com (TrueTTY, SeaTTY, CWGet)
I tested these works fine with good-averande signals giving understandable
results.

good luck,
