Also try to remember that this is the most contentious election in recent US
history and that many of us, on both sides, feel that the impact of this
election will be truly global. This NG has a long history of spirited political
debate and that history is hard to abandon.

So, as an American, I apologize to you non-Americans for our political posts,
but I sincerely hope you realize that constant rebukes on your part may
actually be flaming the frequency of political posts. Americans DO bristle at
constantly being told what we should do.

I agree, Brian. I find myself skipping over a lot of political threads,
particularly those that are excessively cross-posted to other NGs. I'm just
suggesting that it might be more realistic to skip over the political threads
than it is to take the time replying to each post with a reminder that it is
off-topic or of no interest to non-Americans. As a long-time veteran of this
group, I am simply aware that no possible rebuke will stop such posts.

I'm an "offender," so I obviously don't see anything wrong with some
OT posting, especially considering the issue-oriented content of much
radio. But I do think cross-posting from the more rabid political
NGs, which has become pretty prevalent of late, has brought -a lot-
more OT postings into the group.

right now. Rec.sport.golf has plenty not to mention all the Ryder Cup
