I'd say if it's a passing interest then go with the R5 (R2 replacement) due to cost/benefit: if you plan on regular use and demand more reasonable shortwave then look at the Yaesu and perhaps the Yupiteru. Has Yupiteru installed a computer port on their high end scanners yet? I preferred the Yupiteru to the 8200 for reception, but the 8200 had the port. I wound up getting neither. mike |
