Default Yosemite Sam

This via the WUN Listserver and was posted this morning:

For those who are interested:

The "Sam" Pirate that was so popular last month is now on 5 Mhz.

Can be heard in Southern AZ faintly on top of WWV.

I wonder if he'll be starting up on other frequencies as well?

Heard here on 10 and 15 MHz at 1520. However, the only thing Sam says after the
sort of digital buzz that was present on the original Sam transmissions is
'Varmint'.

I tried 5 and 10 Mhz at 0100 and didn't note Sam or any other unusual
signal, just WWV as usual. Sam was so strong at my location the first
time around that I was able to hear him on my Degen during the day. No
such luck this time around. It IS certain that if this is a pirate (not
a government operation of some kind) interfering with WWV will get one
busted in a hurry.

What exactly is "Yosemite Sam" saying,
and why has he been named that?
First I've heard of him.

He's like the cartoon character. Now he's just saying 'Varmint'. In the past
he's said 'Varmint, I'm a gonna blow ya to smithereens'.

Indications from the past seem to point to a possible location near Albuquerque,
NM for Yosemite Sam.
