What most people call "politically correct" nowadays was called "respect" or "manners" when I grew up.. I understand the concept of respect, but a lot of garbage gets the "PC" label, rather than face the truth. Right after 9/11 some idiot newscaster was talking about "Not saying anything to offend the terrorists". I wanted to puke. On the other hand, respect is a two way street, and respect is earned, not mandated. I had the owner's son of a company I worked for get in my face and yell that he "Demanded my respect!". He had stolen new hand tools out of my toolbox, and in general he couldn't be trusted. I told him that you don't demand respect, that you have to earn it every day. -- Former professional electron wrangler. Michael A. Terrell Central Florida |
