A major shaking up of 'normal' programming/news on the BBC outlets
including SW over the weekend and no mentions or comments on the
situation on this SW message board. I guess everyone is too preocupied
with Fox News, politics, religion and other OT or borderline OT
subjects that have far less to do with SW listening than programming
interuptions at one of the 'majors'.

Just some idle thoughts

In the US anyway... I can't get BBC very well. Wish I could, as it's
some of the best programming around.

I find that 9825 at 0200 (The World Today) broadcast from Ascension (I
think) to South America USUALLY comes in fairly well here in California.
In the last couple weeks however, ever since that big solar storm, it's
been really noisy and the signal level has been lower than usual
(usually S9, lately been S3-S5). Other freqs to try are 15280 and 15360
(Asian service from Singapore and Thailand) after 0000 to fade out
around 0300. This service has The World Today on at 0000, however, which
is at the same time as my local evening TV news (5pm Pacific time)-gotta
get the weather. 9740 also comes in fairly well in US early mornings US
time.

Not much to talk about I guess, except to say I hope the BBC survives
it is one of the few fairly trustworthy sources of information.

Indeed. They're not up to the standards that they were 20 years ago, but
they're still pretty good, and they have a wide network of
correspondents.
